Caliente website needs to be corrected. The Cal is now officially on Agent Orange Ship List. However, 1970 only. Interesting that Cal entered harbor at An Thoi also in 1968. What happened after it entered harbor on April 25, 1968?

My grandpa Charles L. Heckadon was on the U.S.S. Caliente from 1952-1956 during the Korean war. He told me lots of stories growing up. I would love to meet someone he served with. He was very proud of his service. Thank you.

Nice pipeline issure, I was just on baord from Guam to San Diego in 1973 and a couple days after we got back to Ling Beach we got notice to decommission and was not unexpected for me as I was on 4 ships between end of my shore duty in August of 1969 and the decommissioning of the Caliente in Dec of 73 and they were the Arlington (Agmr-2) Klondike ar-22,,Ticonderoga cvs-14 and then the Caliente and back to shore duty.

Glad to see some folks are reading the Pipeline and using our new Guestbook here on the Website. Thanks, guys, I really appreciate it. For Mike, I really hope we get a good turnout in Baltimore. We're going to have a wonderful reunion this year and I think everyone will like it.

Great Job on the Pipeline Jack, look forward to seeing everyone in Baltimore this fall.

Served on the Caliente 1971-1973 as a SK3, hailed from Muncie, Indiana as did Tom Rawlinson CS3 who also served during this period. After the Navy I went back to my job working for BorgWarner Automotive, where we made transmmissions and transfer cases for various Automotive Manufacturers. Retired in 2009 after 40 years there.
Just enjoying life playing a lot of golf, driving my corvette, and spoiling my 4 grandsons.
